The École Supérieure d’Arts et Médias de Caen-Cherbourg (ésam) is a public art and design college based in Normandy. It offers courses at DNA (Bac+3) and DNSEP (Bac+5 – Master grade) levels in art, graphic design and creative writing. ésam is distinguished by its teaching methods, which focus on experimentation, artistic research and interdisciplinarity. With two sites (Caen and Cherbourg), it offers a stimulating environment conducive to contemporary creation, with close links to the local and international cultural scenes.

State-recognized training and diplomas: ésam Caen/Cherbourg is part of the network of 43 public art and design schools under the authority of the French Ministry of Culture. With a history spanning over 200 years, ésam Caen/Cherbourg was created in 2011 from the merger of the École Supérieure d’Arts & Médias de Caen and the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Cherbourg-Octeville. Today, it is a public establishment for cultural cooperation under the joint supervision of Caen la mer Normandie Communauté urbaine, the city of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, the State and the Normandy Region.
