Personalized Housing Assistance (APL)
If you don’t know yet, APL is an aid granted by the State and intended for people who are struggling to pay their rent. There are also other subsidies such as student grants.
If you wish to benefit from APL, you must meet the following conditions:
👉 You are a tenant or sub-tenant of a dwelling (if you are a sub-tenant, you must be under 30 years old or hosted by a family caregiver)
👉 The dwelling must be your main residence located in France
👉 The dwelling must be decent
👉 The dwelling must be under an agreement.
If you are a foreigner, you must have a valid residence permit. 🗺️
Then, you must comply with certain income ceilings set. In 2025, the income ceilings not to exceed to receive APL are as follows:
As a reminder, the amount of APL also depends on your place of residence, namely:
The amount of APL varies depending on several factors such as your income, the value of your assets, or the amount of your rent.
To try to obtain this aid, you can apply to:
- CAF if you fall under the general Social Security system
- MSA if you fall under the agricultural system (agricultural worker or farmer).
To find out the amount of your APL, you can use the simulator provided by the Caisse nationale des allocations familiales.
