OUR RESIDENCE UXCO Student IN BLOIS

Blois is a student town in the heart of a region with a compelling historical heritage!

This charming, friendly city, boasting an exceptional natural and architectural environment, was chosen by UXCO Student for its Le Vinci student residence. Located between Orléans and Tours, Blois embodies the perfect combination of history and culture, quality of life and academic dynamism.

LIFE IN BLOIS

A friendly city with a population of 50,000, Blois enjoys an ideal environment that combines quality of life, economic and academic dynamism with a wealth of cultural and sports activities and associations. Straddling the river Loire and boasting an incredible natural and architectural heritage, the city of Blois is at the heart of an area that has, for the last 10 years, been on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a "Cultural Landscape". But Blois is far more than historic heritage; it is also the place where many products that we consume every day are made: Poulain chocolate bars, Delphi HDI fuel injection systems, Paul Prédault ham, Procter & Gamble "Herbal Essences" shampoo, Sisley cosmetics, Valeo headlights, and so much more. All these are made in or around Blois. Classy, right?

Finally, the cultural life of Blois is punctuated by events to showcase the town's historical heritage, to the delight of its residents and visitors: Les Rendez-vous de l'Histoire, BD Boum, Mix'Terres, the Summer Festival and the Winter Festival.

STUDENT LIFE IN BLOIS

Blois is home to more than 3,600 students every year. It has a wide range of higher education courses: 40 post-high-school pathways of various lengths, a school of engineering - INSA centre Val de Loire (National Institute of Applied Sciences), also including the School of Nature and Landscape - a business school, a graphic design and communication school, a school of nursing, a University Technology Institute, a broad range of Higher Technical Diploma courses and a University branch. Every year, the Town Hall organises a student welcome evening. At this event, students are issued a Student Pass, entitling them to free entry to the town's cultural and sports facilities. You can use this pass to discover the Halle aux Grains, a national stage that offers a year-long programme of quality music, song, theatre and dance, the Chato'do, a contemporary music stage for young talent, and finally the Fondation du Doute, the latest venue to open. This original space, around the Fluxus movement led by the artist Ben, offers a rich, permanent collection of more than 300 works, temporary exhibitions and a performing arts, music and video programme throughout the year. Lastly, you can use public transport at a discounted student rate (€231 per year for an annual pass, or €22 per month). A friendly university town, Blois enjoys an exceptional living environment that you will never want to leave ;)

What else is there around Blois? Whether you're on a short placement or you fancy taking a weekend break, the département of Loir-et-Cher offers a broad range of choice for excursions: visits to the Chambord estate, part of the prestigious history of the kings of France; a jaunt to Beauval zoo; or kayaking on the Cher, to name but a few. You could also visit the major cities nearby, such as Tours and Orléans, which are teeming with student activities.
