Dreaming of a career in optics and eyewear? Good news: ISO opened its brand-new campus in Rouen in September 2024. Already present in several major French cities, the Institut Supérieur d’Optique has trained thousands of vision experts. If you’re looking for a recognized degree and real hands-on skills, this is the school for you.
You have two main options, depending on your level and goals:
Optics Prep Program (work-study): Designed for students who want to strengthen their scientific knowledge before starting the BTS Opticien-Lunetier.
BTS Opticien-Lunetier (work-study): A 2-year program combining theory and practical training in an optical store.
By the end of your studies, you’ll be ready to enter the job market or continue with higher education in optics.
Because you’re not just sitting in class—you’re working in a real company. The result? You gain experience, build your network, and yes, you get paid. The typical schedule is 2 days at school and 3 days at your company (though it can vary). In short, it’s a perfect balance between theory and practice—and that’s the key to hitting the ground running after graduation.
Applications are handled online on ISO’s official website. No specific high school diploma is required—the school welcomes students from all backgrounds. After submitting your application, you’ll have an interview with a faculty member to validate your career plan. Classes start every September, and since spots are limited, it’s best to apply early.
Once you’ve earned your BTS Opticien-Lunetier, you’ll have several options:
Work as an optician in an optical store
Pursue a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or specialized degree
Launch your own business and open your own shop
Yes. The school organizes Open House Days and webinars to give you all the information you need. These events are a great chance to tour the campus, meet the team or current students, and get a feel for the ISO atmosphere.
